I remembered a childhood game called “Red Rover.” The game’s strategy is to divide a group into two teams with an equal number of players. Each group forms a chain line; a player is called out from their team, using this chat, RED ROVER, RED ROVER, let …… come over. The person called runs fast towards the team to break through the chain line. If the line is weak and breaks, the runner carries an individual back to their team. However, if the line is tight and does not bulge, the runner must lock arms with their opponent. At the end of the game, the team with the most players wins.
In life, we join different organizations to increase our status, network or fill a void. We believe we need a team to succeed; in some instances, we do. However, for the most part, we need to build a strong team from the attributes we possess, such as self-confidence, patience, self-regulation, consistency, dedication, integrity. So on, you get the message… Some need reassurance from others to help build a foundation, and there may be others who are innate to achieve maximum performance in life. It is important to note, self-evaluation will give you insights into your individualized needs.
Researchers (Neil et al., 2013) conclude that to set a solid foundation, one must assess their life delivery strengths and weaknesses to achieve their goals. Are you ready to cross the line and choose your weakest link to improve yourself? Mental skills training will help you to identify areas for improvement while increasing your innate abilities.
Let’s explore interventions to help enhance your growth:
A: Identify your weakness and strengths (focus on problem identification ).
B: Commit to change.
C: Execute your plan ( set goals).
D: Manage your environment ( choose a positive environment for support)
E: Lastly, generalization ( 7 c’ s of resiliency).
Utilizing a strategic plan will allow you to focus your attention on the interpersonal skills required to move into your purpose. After all, in the game of RED ROVER, if you are not motivated and unable to seek the weakest link to break the chain line, the outcome can interfere with your strategy to succeed. Remember, training opportunities are for your mind, body, and spirit to relieve stress; therefore, concentrate and breakthrough life barriers.
